Duplication: Wiki home vs README.md

The wiki home page and README.md have a large overlap in information. As far as I can see, we have no mechanism to maintain consistency (e.g., including a file in the wiki page). To avoid problems like #156 (closed), we should remove the redundant information in on of the two places.

The wiki is not publicly visible, it is only for us developers and project members. It does not need to replicate the README.md, which is the visual starting page for normal users.

I am more inclined to the wiki, because you can create a much more structured and clearer to understand documentation which can include examples and images as well.

My main point is to avoid duplication, which leads to inconsistency. In the current situation, I would suggest to strip down the wiki home page to minimal information and a link to README.md

We should have a separate issue to discuss how to structure the information.
