Update project docs

Ralf Ulrich requested to merge update_project_docs into master

This branch and MR are here to collect suggestions and updates to CONTRIBUTING.md COLLABORATION_AGREEMENT.md or LICENSE etc. Please do not change those files on other branches, or the master. At some point we can discuss updates and merge them into the master branch.

For sure it will make a lot of sense to develop those files further, they are far from perfect now. But we better agree on this and keep track of it explicitly.
