Muon flux difference
Hi,
I'm currently working on atmospheric muon flux simulation with @fourty2 and we found the CORSIKA 8 result is around 1.5 times lower than others:
- At 2.5km below the sea level, the comparison involved C8 and MUPAGE
- At sea level, the comparison involved C8, analytical result (https://pdg.lbl.gov/2019/reviews/rpp2019-rev-cosmic-rays.pdf page 7) and IceCube result(https://pos.sissa.it/301/317).
3 cosmic ray flux model were used and you can find the comparisons in the attachment. They 'look' consistent when we multiplied the C8 result by 1.5.
The CORSIKA 8 code was modified from the c8_air_shower application where we
- built the mixed media environment from atmosphere to sea water,
- use
SIBYLL 2.3d
,UrQMD
for hadronic interactions.
The version we used is beta_release_pre_v2.0
.
I wonder if there's comparison results like that between C7 and C8. And do you have any thoughts on the cause of this issue?
Best,
Weilun
