smaller tracks behave in the opposite way when compared to CORSIKA 7
I have run 100 1PeV iron induced showers with no thinning setting the maxRad value (maximally allowed deflection angle in the magnetic field tracking algorithm - found in TrackingLeapFrogCurved.inl
) to 0.2rad and 100 more for 0.001rad. For all these runs the point of first interaction was fixed. The motivation of these runs was to inspect how that affects the simulation of the radio emission. I performed the same simulations with C7 and I noticed a weird behavior so I thought to document it here.
Here are the longitudinal profiles for electrons and positrons from C8 for 0.2 and 0.001rad:
Here are the same longitudinal profiles from C7:
C8 and C7 show the opposite behavior. For smaller tracks C7 produces more particles, while C8 produces more particles for larger tracks.
